SICK Inspector83x offers out-of-the-box AI quality control solutions
· faithfulind
In June 2024, SICK introduced the Inspector83x 2D vision camera, which enables out-of-the-box AI machine vision quality inspection, which can be used for demanding routine quality inspection tasks in high-speed production.
SICK Inspector83x allows you to teach without pressure. The powerful and high-precision AI quality detection function of the camera makes it easy for non-professionals to configure and use to cope with the application scenarios of full-speed production. By showing a small sample to the camera, it is possible to start a run and obtain preliminary test results within minutes. Any product design or batch change can be quickly added in the same way by the operator on the production line.
Convenience and powerful functions, enabling high-speed production
the SICK Inspector83x has a resolution of up to 5 million pixels and powerful built-in lighting functions. It is an impressive all-in-one multifunctional vision camera. With a powerful quad-core CPU and high-speed data transmission based on industrial networks, Inspector83x can perform high-speed AI quality inspection directly on the camera. High precision, fast response, and no additional equipment are particularly suitable for applications in demanding FMCG production scenarios. For common machine vision detection tasks such as defect detection, anomaly detection and sorting, high-speed detection can usually reach 15 times per second.
With the powerful functions of SICK Inspector83x, reliable inspection results can be obtained in the application scenarios of various industries such as consumer goods manufacturing, food and beverage, automobile and packaging, allowing manufacturers to easily cope with various machine vision inspection tasks. At the same time, SICK Inspector83x can also cope with complex inspection tasks in medium and large scenes, including product production quality evaluation based on detecting unpredictable features, assembly quality verification in complex assembly scenes, and OCR (optical symbol recognition)/OCV (optical character verification) Read and verify. Subsequent models to be launched in 2024 will support color image recognition, further adapting to various specific color classification, defect detection and quality control application scenarios.
AI machine vision that can be easily mastered by non-professionals
Inspector83x pre-installed SICK Nova base software out of the box. The deployment of inspection tasks is easy without the need for specialized machine vision knowledge and lengthy debugging setups. In actual production scenarios, users can connect the camera to a standard PC through the camera's USB-C port or network port, and display samples to the camera through an intuitive software interface to complete training and perform testing. A minimum of five samples need to be shown to complete the training. Combining AI functionality with a rule-based detection tool allows for more practical detection conditions. For example, the configuration of the detection is done by simply adding a measurement value.
When you need to make changes to the product design or packaging design on the production line, the SICK Inspector 83x can help you avoid the complex re-teaching of traditional machine vision. Even operators without much experience can easily solve problems and complete the setup of detection tools for complex rules without relying on the assistance of machine vision experts or external consultants. Simply add a new product sample and the camera learns itself.
For complex application scenarios with more diverse and large data sets, users can also use the computing power of SICK dStudio cloud service to train neural networks, and the training results can be exported as a small-volume file and deployed to run on Inspector83x cameras. With the SICK Nova platform, more advanced users can also use Lua programming and HALCON to further customize development and extend functionality. In addition, SICK dStudio cloud services have unique advantages in collaborative work and data management, and user convenience is still the core of the platform.
High-speed data transmission through multi-functional industrial networks
after the setting is completed, the image processing will be carried out directly on the SICK Inspector83x camera, and the processing result will be output to the control system of the equipment in the form of pass/fail or detection value. Inspector83x camera with integrated EtherNet/IP™or PROFINET dual-port design, and optimized for industrial networks to support high-speed transmission of massive data. A dedicated high-speed Gigabit Ethernet port supports data transfer of high-resolution images and supports data logging or TCP/IP integration. Built-in export function, you can output custom configurations of various common PLCs with the push of a button.
The SICK Inspector83x has seven inputs and five outputs. The delay and queue functions integrated in the equipment can efficiently calibrate the image output of the camera according to the input of time or encoder, so as to timely activate the connected equipment control system, for example, trigger the action of the rejection mechanism.
Although the SICK Inspector83x can operate as a stand-alone device, it can also be used with a variety of accessories depending on the needs of the installation. The dedicated external lighting port can be connected to an external auxiliary light source, such as a backlight or a strip light. Near Infrared (NIR) models will be available later in 2024. Using the standard C- type lens interface, users can choose to install a series of SICK optical lenses, or they can freely install third-party dedicated lenses to adapt to more complex detection scenarios.
